Arc'teryx strives for the perfect synergy of design, materials and construction in every product they create. Superior, lightweight, structured textiles add warmth, durability and weather protection to classic forms. Award-winning construction techniques sculpt materials into functional, wearable shapes.
----
Anatomical patterning
Arc’teryx Veilance garments are patterned to fit the anatomical shaping of the human body. Fabric sections are cut into unique shapes that interconnect on a three-dimensional plane, and gussets and panels are integrated into the garment in critical areas. The result is a garment that fits the compound curves of the body, enabling a greater freedom of movement with increased comfort when either stationery, or in motion.

Drop Pockets With Pocket Flaps
Drop pockets with integrated fold-over fabric sections on the inside of the pocket flaps provide a weatherproof shelter without the use of bulky zippers. Paired with laminated technology for a sleek profile, these pockets seal effectively against external moisture while providing an easy-to-access opening. The outer flap conceals a fold of laminated GORE-TEX fabric that seals shut against itself, creating a barrier against penetrating water.

Cuff Closures
Our smooth-sliding cuff adjusters feature a friction-lock buckle and webbing system that eliminates the need for Velcro tabs. This effective closure system can be quickly and effortlessly tightened or loosened with one hand.

Document/Boarding Pass Pockets
Several of the garments feature low-profile laminated pockets, sized to accommodate essential items such as electronics, passports, boarding passes and documents up to A4/Legal size. Die cut panels are laminated to the garment in the optimal location and are less bulky than traditional sewn-in pockets.

Pen Pocket/Phone Pockets
Slender drop pockets—constructed using a panel of heavy-gauge nylon webbing with a rigid, laminated brim—provide protective storage compartments for an assortment of pens or mechanical pencils. Stretch woven phone holders securely hold delicate electronics inside pant cargo pockets.

Stow Hood
The Stow Hood is a versatile, packable hood that tucks away in a discreet compartment in the garment’s collar, either in a zippered pocket, or within an integrated panel of fabric. Easily accessible, the hood can remain out of sight until weather turns wet and added protection from the elements is needed. The hood itself features integrated webbing adjusters that allow the hood to be cinched tight to seal out rain and snow.

Materials
Arc'teryx Veilance products incorporate the very best fabrics available, combined with advanced textile-construction processes, to deliver the ultimate in technical performance and comfort.

GORE-TEX® PRO SHELL
Veilance garments are constructed using the most advanced technical fabrics, designed to withstand the rigours of daily life. GORE-TEX Pro Shell fabric is a superior quality, durable, waterproof and fully breathable textile that delivers an unparalleled user experience. The technical nature of these fabrics enable Veilance garments to offer complete weather protection in a classically-styled envelope.

WINDSTOPPER®
Polartec WINDSTOPPER fabric combines a durable, yet soft-to-the-touch face fabric with a bonded windproof membrane. The result is a technical textile that provides a barrier to moving air, while remaining breathable and comfortable.

Coreloft/Primaloft Insulation
Combining classic tailoring and modern technologies, Veilance is able to offer a range of insulated jackets that provide exceptional warmth and increased comfort for the wearer. Lamination techniques bond panels of high-loft Coreloft and Primaloft insulation fibres directly to the face fabric. The result is a single-ply insulated garment that eliminates cold spots created by traditional quilting.

Schoeller® Nylon Face
The stretchy, breathable properties of Schoeller are laminated to a Merino wool backer to provide warmth and comfort. A Durable Water Repellent (DWR) coating is then applied to the soft, stretchy exterior face fabric to provide added weather resistance. The pairing of these two textiles into a technical garment, styled with a modern aesthetic, delivers a unique user experience.

TECHNOWOOL™
Technowool is a laminate of polyester fleece backing and finely-spun wool that adds warmth and technical performance while retaining the natural, classic look of wool. The result is a high performance textile that combines a traditional appearance with superior thermal insulation.

Lamination Technology
Arc’teryx pioneered the use of textile lamination in traditionally sewn goods. By laminating or bonding sections of material together, we are able to eliminate bulky seams, minimize weight, and create modern, aesthetic design lines. Zippers and pockets can be positioned wherever they are most effective, and not be constrained by the locations of seam junctions and gusseted sections.

Seam Allowance
Arc’teryx’s construction process is meticulous in its attention to detail. Seam tolerances are cut to an absolute minimum, reducing weight and bulk. These micro seams are therefore able to be sealed with the narrowest seam tape available further reducing bulk. The result is a smooth, flush seam that lies flat and is visually and aesthetically modern, clean and stylish.

WaterTight™ Zippers
Where it’s necessary to provide an opening or a pocket on a waterproof jacket, we have included WaterTight™ zippers, or Leakproof pocket flaps. WaterTight™ Zippers are coated with a special polyurethane coating that prevents water from penetrating the zip closure. Powder coated metal zipper pulls in tonal colours add a classic finish to the zip.

Die Cut Components
Veilance garments incorporate die-cut components in their construction process. Die-cut components provide crisp edges and clean lines that complement the minimalist, modern look of the clothing, and eliminate corners that can catch or fray. At the same time, die-cut openings can be positioned anywhere on a garment, eliminating the requirement for uneccessary seams that add weight and bulk.

Taped Fleece Seams
Fleece fabric is bulky by nature. To reduce the stacking effect of several layers of fleece overlaying each other along critical points such as seam junctions, Arc’teryx employs the use of ‘shaving’ the fleece along seam lines and at intersections. Seam tape is then applied over the shaved area to create low-profile, clean seam-lines or junctions. Seam tape also has the effect of reinforcing the seam sections to make them stronger and more durable.

Product Care Information

Garment Stain Removal

To remove gum or sap from a garment, first freeze the substance using an ice cube and then use a dull butter knife to scrape off as much of the gum or sap as you can. Soak the garment in a water/white vinegar solution, and then either wash the garment in warm water using a mild powder laundry detergent or with a cleaner specifically designed for cleaning synthetic garments, such as Granger's G-Wash plus. For really stubborn stains, brush with a soft bristle brush, like an old toothbrush, using G-Wash diluted with 3 parts water. Granger's spray cleaner is especially effective on stubborn stains.
----
To remove grease from a Gore-Tex® garment you should first dampen the stain and then rub the stained area with Granger's G-Wash diluted with 3 parts water (dishwashing detergent can also be used with fair results). You can then clean the jacket in warm water, again using the Granger's G-Wash (see above:"How do I wash my Gore-Tex® jacket?"). If the stain persists, you can use Granger's spray-on cleaner or sponge it with a safe cleaning fluid or mineral spirits; both can be found at a grocery store. If cleaning fluid or mineral spirits are used, the DWR will need to be reapplied.
How do I care for my fleece garments / sweaters?
----
Machine wash in lukewarm water and tumble dry at a low temperature. Do not bleach; Avoid use of fabric softeners, do not iron or dry clean. For best results, launder garment with like colours. For optimal performance, throw your fleece garment in the washing machine when you wash your Gore-tex jacket using Granger's G-wash cleaner plus. This performance cleaner removes all of the dirt from your garment, prevents odour from building up in the fabric and leaves no residue.
How do I replenish the DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish on my garments?
----
All of our shells are treated with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish that keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated with moisture so that the breathable barrier can do its job. Over time, the DWR gets worn away, most common in areas of abrasion such as the sleeves and shoulders of a jacket, or the seat and knees of pants. This coating needs to be replenished approximately once per season, or more often if the piece gets a lot of use or washing. If water is no longer beading up on your shell, it is time to reproof.
----
To re-treat your garment, use one of the widely available spray-on or wash-in DWR treatments for waterproof/breathable garments. We suggest Grangers® and in testing have found it to provide the very best performance. Wash-in treatments tend to be less effective than the spray treatments but are fine for reviving the DWR between major re-applications. Often, simply washing the garment, rinsing thoroughly and tumble-drying at a moderate heat for 30-40 minutes can revive the DWR. The heat application is an important element in activating the DWR properties of the treatment, and most of the aftermarket treatments recommend that some form of heat be applied to the garment after it is treated. Once you have successfully cleaned and refinished your shell, it should work as new again. For more information visit: grangers.co.uk

How do I wash my GORE-TEX® garment?

Be sure to unzip all zippers before you wash your jacket. You can wash your Gore-Tex in a regular washing machine, in warm (not hot) water, on a gentle cycle. We suggest the use of cleaners designed specifically for Gore-tex, such as Granger's G-Wash cleaner Plus, which work exceedingly well – even in hard water they rinse free. Many commercial soaps and detergents have UV brighteners, perfumes or whiteners and these are not recommended. Avoid any cleaners that have fabric softeners in them (such as Woolite®). Common household detergents could interact with the DWR finish and may interfere with the performance of the jacket if they are not totally rinsed out of the material.

Run the garment through at least one rinse cycle and tumble dry on medium heat. For optimum performance you may also need to re-apply the DWR (durable water repellent) finish on your water-repellent garment from time to time – we suggest Granger's spray-on waterproofing for best results in getting the best performance from your Arc'teryx Gore-Tex garment. For more information visit: GRANGERS.CO.UK. Do not dry clean or store when wet.
